On one of our many trips to the mall over the past few weeks, Daddy and Avery played dress up with winter hats! Too cute!

Phoebe and the kiddos met up with us last week at Gymboree class. We had a blast! Avery loves to GO so these classes are right up her alley. There was a little boy whom had a beach ball that Avery loved so she instantly decided that he was her new best friend. It was so cute to watch them play with each other.

Scott, Avery, Dee, and I went to the mall to go visit Santa, have lunch, and do a little Christmas shopping. Surprisingly, the Galleria wasn’t too packed on Thursday afternoon. The Santa pictures came out really well. Avery was so curious of Santa and kept looking backwards to see who this interesting man was.

These are pictures of before and after the Patek Family Christmas. Santa came early at Nana & Papa’s and brought her a very fun toy that Avery just loved. I think Santa was very anxious to see Avery this year 😉 as he seems to be popping up all over the place.
Dear Santa, Please bring me a new camera that doesn’t take blurry photos all the time! Please!
St. Nick & Patek Christmas

Every year St. Nick comes to our house to celebrate the tradition of giving. Avery got to open her first presents and of course, her favorite were the boxes and ribbons. St. Nick brought her lots of cold weather clothes which was just in time because we have had some very chilly days and more to come.
(note: Kitchen in background being repaired from Hurricane Ike. We are almost done. Yay!)
These stockings taste yummy!

After celebrating St. Nick’s, we packed everything up and left to Shiner. Every year, my grandma’s family (her brother and sisters) take turns hosting a Christmas party so everyone can get together. This year it was grandma’s year so all my aunts and uncles came in to “cater” the party. The Patek family is very large so it really is the one time of year when everyone can all get together and see each other. It gets harder and harder every year with all the growing families, but it is such a wonderful celebration of extended family. Being able to see my grandma’s extended family has been a real gift.

We love the silly faces!
First Snow

Last week, Avery got to see her first snow. It was beautiful! We went outside so we could catch them in our hands. Avery loved it. The snow flurries were really big and coming down pretty heavily. I was able to capture it on video, though it was dark. Too bad it didn’t stick. Matt, Dawn, and Hillary had lots of snow and were able to build a snowman
YOU

You are the poem
I dreamed of writing,
the masterpiece
I longed to paint.
You are the shining star
I reached for in my
ever hopeful quest
for life fulfilled..
You are my child.
Now with all things
I am blessed.

Girls Road Trip to Fredericksburg
Posted in Baby & Child, Family, Travel, tagged fredericksburg on December 11, 2008| 1 Comment »
The day after Thanksgiving, we set out on an adventure to Fredericksburg. Our first official stop was Austin where we ate at Matt’s El Rancho. I won’t count all the side stops for potty breaks for Avery, like the one on the side of the road between Flatonia and Smithville and the other one somewhere outside of Dripping Springs. Once we finally arrived in Fredericksburg, it was a little chillier than we had expected so we set out to buy Avery some warm clothes. While at another potty break, she spit up (major) all over herself. Well, we needed warmer clothes anyway, right? We bought the adorable hat you’ll see in the pictures and Nana bought her new Trumpette socks. I have to mention that Avery was SO great the entire day. She road in the car all the way to Fredericksburg from Shiner without crying. She shopped with us for hours with excitement wiggling and squirming to grab everything, and she slept on the way home. What a doll! Mom, Dawn, Hillary, Avery, and I had a blast. The weather turned out to be perfect and all the Christmas decor and cute stores were just what we were looking for. I absolutely love that town. It is so cute. We can’t wait for next time so we can bring the guys 🙂

Happy Thanksgiving!

We spent Thanksgiving in Shiner at Mom & Dad’s house. We ate and ate and then ate some more. It was so wonderful to see everyone, and we give thanks for all of the blessings we have. We are forever thankful for our beautiful family. Thank you God for the many, many blessings in our life!
Side Note: Most of these pics are of Avery making a funny face. This is because everytime she sees the camera, those are the facial expressions she makes. Hilarious! We took about a hundred pictures within a few hours and 80% of the time, when she saw the camera coming, she started the scruncy face.
