I decided that since today was the first day since we moved in that we wouldn’t have contractors in the house doing punch work and the weather has been PERFECT, I would take advantage and run to Warrenton/Round Top to the Antiques Fair. What made it even better was that my life-long bestie came to meet me with her precious little boy, Jed. Toni and I got to catch up on life and also found some goodies at the same time. We got some great deals since it is towards the end and they wanted to get rid of things.
How cute is he? And he was such a happy camper the entire time!
Spent a gorgeous day at Warrenton Antique Fair with Toni and Jed! So much fun! Scored some goodies, too :)

Some of my goodies I found (except the books):

I snapped up that oil painting with frame for $10 within the first five minutes of being there. It has the perfect colors for our family room and tying everything together.

Dawn and I went to Warrenton a few weekends ago during preview weekend while Mom and Hillary stayed with the girls. The weather was so nice and we did find some cute things! I love going every spring and fall and always come away with something. Dawn and I died laughing last spring because I was looking for a huge dough bowl and when I say it fast, it sounds really funny. I didn’t find one in March but did find one this time that fit my specifications. It’s so much fun going through all the antiques, junk, and treasures. There are times when I get completely overwhelmed. HGTV was there as well shooting for one of their new shows.

I’m a sucker for quatrefoil windows but I’m not sure they could be made into windows anyway:

Fun Finds

I’m on a blogging roll today catching up for the month :)! I just ran across the cutest website. I love old-fashioned things and this site has it:
http://www.house8810.com How cute are those paper doll’s and that bingo? I’m definitely getting those for Avery and Olivia.

It also looks like they have 10% off on the items for little ones. Yay!

Shopping Therapy

I wouldn’t necessarily say that I tend to enjoy shopping (unless it involves being in a fun grocery store like Central Market or Hubbell and Hudson) but there is something about shopping online on Etsy that makes me SO happy. I’ve found so many cute things on there and I love supporting the small shops. It’s like a daily treasure hunt! I think the thing that appeals to me the most is the fact that everything has such character and is so unique. Deep down, I yearn to be crafty and maybe that’s why I like this place so much. Maybe somewhere in my busy schedule (perhaps after the house is finished, the baby is born, the house is decorated, everything is settled), I will actually make time to fulfill my need for creating things rather than buying someone else’s creations.

Some of my favorite things:

How cute are these?  I’m going to use these in Olivia’s room for hanging precious little things.

Beautifully Vintage Clothespin Clips - set of 6

So precious:

Birdie Onesie

This is packed up in storage but I want to use it as a photo prop for Avery and hang it on her dresser.  She loves tutus so I know she will love this:

PETTISKIRT - Vintage Pink and Buttercream Ivory with Satin bow

I can’t wait for Olivia to wear this hat:

Dreaming of Flying au Naturel

Sadly, I purchased this for Avery to wear over the holidays but it is packed up 😦 because we didn’t anticipate being out of a house for this long.  I think I’m going to have to go dig it out.

Holiday 2010 Fit For A Princess Turquoise Peasant Sash Dress 0-3mo 3-6mo 9-12mo 18Mo also available in 2T 3T 4T 5 6 7 8 Portrait Outift

These are going to go perfectly in Olivia’s room.  I usually don’t do themes but her sheets are Peter Rabbit toile so I’m collecting vintage and handmade Beatrix Potter things for her room.

Beatrix Potter Peter Rabbit Bookends - Shelf Pillows Set Two

I had two custom architectural renderings done for our new home featuring some of my favorite features of our old home and I’m going to have them framed and matted.  I’m so happy with them!  I actually got the idea from a well-known designer and loved the outcome of the framed collection so I thought I would do this myself for much less with architecture that meant something to me.  Here is one of the custom renderings featuring :

Fall Fashion Finds

A very sweet reader asked yesterday that I post about any fun fashion finds that I’ve made for the fall. I will admit that being pregnant makes it much more challenging (in my opinion) to be fashionable or dress cute. I’m using my creativity to remain in regular clothes as long as I can. Most of my favorite recent purchases come from Anthropologie. Below are a few of my recent favorite finds:

I really love this dress from Anthropologie (not sure if I’ll be able to wear it for too much longer this season):

This is from Anthropologie (in the intimates department) but I wear it as a regular dress:

Another Anthropologie…I love the sleeve detail:

Cardigans are awesome…I’ve really picked up quite a few and love this one from Anthropologie:

From J. Crew:

Perfect-fit ruffle henley
Also from J. Crew:
V-neck maxi sweater
The leather riding boots are from J. Crew and I love the way they look.  I plan on ordering me a pair for the fall/winter:
Weatherby riding boots
This vest is a little out of my comfort zone but I’m loving it (at Francesca’s):
Wild Child Vest
At Franscesca’s as well:
Haylie Bootie by Chinese Laundry
I will say that I find shopping for Avery much more exciting…more than I ever thought I would.  It’s like Christmas for me whenever I go to a cute children’s store.   I’m now starting to plan for Olivia and pick up a few things here and there.  Poor doll will be wearing a lot of hand-me downs though which actually works out great!

Kelly at Kelly’s Korner is hosting a Fashion Tips Carousel and I thought it would be fun to participate in so 10 years down the road when I read this, I can look back and see what kind of funny things I was wearing in 2010.

First of all, I would not consider myself cutting edge in the fashion world at all nor would I give anyone fashion tips so I changed it to my fashion style.  Ha!  I love classic style.   I stick with pieces that will still be in style in 10 years like solid colors and stripes.    That way, when I splurge on garments, I can wear them for many years.   I’m not sure why but I just like solid colors.  Occasionally, I’ll purchase some things with patterns like dresses and a few fun tops.

My top picks for Winter:  Large Akoya Pearl Earrings (of course, because it has been my business for years), Paige Denim Jeans (they don’t flare out at the waist in the back and they maintain shape), Solid-colored tops, Tory Burch Flats

This pic is what I wear most days:
Family Pic 2009

My top picks for Spring Summer:   Large Akoya Pearl Earrings, J crew shorts, Gap and Jcrew Tank tops or RL Polo collared-shirts, Tory Burch Sandals and Francesca’s dresses

I love to stay with solid colors and my favorite is white. I think half of my wardrobe is white. It’s just so fresh and pretty. If I had a beach house, I would decorate it all in white as well 🙂

I’m pretty conservative with fashion.  However, I do love shoes.   They are great for spicing up a style.   If I want to dress up a pair of jeans and sweater, I wear boots or fun heels.

Some of my favorite things for Spring (I’ve linked to the product so you can click on the picture):

I love these because they go with everything.  I wear them with black, white, and everything in between:

I love this cute dress from J. Crew.  What a pretty color!

I really like this white ruffled Tee.  Her look is what I what consider my style.
Cute White Top from Gap:
Love the top, not the skirt…from Francesca’s:

This past weekend we headed to Shiner to spend time with our family. On Saturday we decided to go to Gruene to walk around the cute shops and have a day of fun with the girls. There’s nothing better than an impromptu day trip to one of the many cute Texas towns with the girls! It was really HOT but so much fun! We spent the whole time trying to find a cute hat for Avery to protect her head from the sun. After going through them all, the very last little shop we went in, we found a baby cap. I ended up getting it for her anyway eventhough we were headed on our way out. While we were out toodling in Gruene, Dad and Scott decided they weren’t going to sit around and ended up taking the boat out to the lake and going fishing.

On Sunday, we went to lunch with the family and headed back to Houston. Scott had to hurry and get home so he could fly out to Chicago that evening for an early Monday flight to Wisconsin.

Nice hair:
Avery being super silly:
Cracks me up!
WHAT do you think of this hat? HILARIOUS! We couldn’t stop laughing:
Reminds me of Little House on the Prairie:
She picked up that froggy so Nana bought it for her:
Precious (can’t wait to edit this one in Photoshop…too tired right now at 11pm)
Maybe this hat will work 🙂
We found a cap and then it was time to go:
This was on Sunday on the way to lunch. She was SO tired. Check out all those toys. I have them in that little organizer so when I’m driving, I can just reach back, grab one and give it to her. It’s quite convenient. I even use the water bottle as entertainment. She likes to shake the water.
